Just by walking alone, a person can improve their health in so many ways! Whether you have a good workout routine already going on, or are someone who is struggling to stay motivated to live a healthy lifestyle, walking is for everyone at any level! Personally, I think walking on a trail outside is one of the best options of walking: you get fresh air, nice scenery, and are in a more sociable setting. Not everyone wants to socialize, but you will most likely come across a lot of passersby and might even meet someone new and make a new friend. The beauty of the scenery when you walk is another thing to enjoy and offers it’s own health benefits in reducing anxiety and getting some Vitamin D.
Unfortunately, there are some moments of time when walking outside is not an option. Besides severe weather, extremely cold, or extremely hot weather, people can also suffer from allergies. It can definitely be fatal to someone who is allergic to bees. Other people might be paranoid over ticks or other wild life. If there are warnings in your local area about a large population of insects, snakes, or other dangerous wild life, I suggest you just walk inside. Some people are just too adventurous to let some kinds of dangers like that stand in their way. Whatever type of person you are, walking is so healthy for you, plain and simple. When you can only walk inside, and if you don’t have your own treadmill, get a gym membership. They usually have TVs or some headphone plugin available to help you keep yourself entertained while you walk. It is possible to find a cheap membership to a gym if you are financially struggling. If you don’t like to be around people, you may be able to qualify for a payment plan to get a treadmill. Don’t give up on having an available way of walking!
If you are walking for reasons beyond your health like losing weight, or building muscle, there are always more exercises you can do to accomplish your goals. If you want to lose weight, you would have to walk longer than 30 minutes. You should also add on some more physical activities or types of exercises to burn more calories and get a more toned body. If you are wanting to build more muscle there are certain weights you can put on your body while you walk or you could carry a heavy backpack. People usually lift weights for muscle gain, but there are other alternatives. The focus in this blog is the walk.
To encourage and motivate you to gain better health, I’ve included some researched benefits of walking, as well as other walking articles you might find interesting that have even more detailed information about walking. I was so surprised to find out just how many benefits there are when you take walks and I would love to share with you some main benefits:
* Increased fitness for both your lungs and heart
* Helps with joint muscular pain or stiffness
* Prevents heart disease and stroke
* Prevents or helps people who have diabetes, high blood pressure, or cancer
* Helps increase your energy levels
* Helps with your muscle and strength endurance
* Improves your mood, cognition, memory, and sleep
Walking helps out pretty much every system in your body! Sometimes we picture walking as an exercise that seems so easy that its not useful, but walking is extremely useful! Don’t give up on trying to take care of your health because you think walking won’t have much of an effect. Use it as your main enabler if you are struggling with your health and walking is all you can bring yourself to do. Walking will eventually motivate you to do more when it helps you with your overall health!
